I’m always looking for free images to use in my next blog post. But that means understating the fine print. Does the license require me to link to the author or mention the designer’s name? Can I use the image on a commercial site, or only my personal site? Can I modify the image and reuse it over and over?
So many questions and concerns!
That’s why I always look for images that fall under the Creative Common Zero license or “CC0”. My usual Google search for this goes something like this…
“free email images CC0”
An image or photo labeled “CC0”, means you can use, modify, copy, or even redistribute the image or photo, without linking to or attributing the author or designer.
What’s Public Domain?
An image or photo that falls under “Public Domain” means that no person or persons own the photo or image. It falls under no copyright, and you are totally free to use it however you want.
So, if I see CC0, or Public Domain, that usually means I can do want with the image with zero concerns.
The following free featured images all fall under CC0 License, which means you can use the image for personal or commercial purposes; and you can modify or copy the image without having to link to or attribute the designer or author. I know this, because I designed all of them. Enjoy!
